Desperate Housewives

Here are the weekly TV ratings, by number of viewers.

Not many surprises this week, if any at all (maybe a slight surprise that Dancing with the Stars was broken up by the season finale of CSI), so I thought I’d open up the comments for you to answer two questions. One, what show do you watch that isn’t on this list and surprises you that more people don’t watch it? And two, what show on here makes you shake your head and state “how they hell can so many people watch that?!”

1. American Idol - Weds (FOX)
2. American Idol - Tues (FOX)

Steven MoffatSince Doctor Who found new life in 2005, Russell T. Davies has served as both executive producer and head writer of the series. Davies had announced that he would be stepping down from the position, and today, we learned the not-so-surprising news that occasional Physician Who writer and creator of Coupling, Steven Moffat, will be taking over.

This is definitely a step in the right direction for the series, as Moffat’s previous contributions to the show have been some of the greatest highlights. For example, that chilling episode “Blink” (the one that made it impossible for me to walk through a sculpture garden without looking over my shoulder every two seconds) was his masterpiece.

EmerilLate last year we told you how Emeril Lagasse was going to leave Food Network. Now we know where he’s going.

The chef is going to move his Emeril Live show to the Fine Living Network. The show will air in the same time slot (7pm) that it currently runs in, seven nights a week. The new shows begin on July 7th. Emeril is part of the Martha Stewart empire now (except for his many restaurants, which he has held on to), and repeats of Martha’s daily syndicated show run on Fine Living each night as well. Both shows will air next to each other on the schedule.

Bill LawrenceI finally got a opportunity to talk with Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence yesterday, and, as you’d anticipate, he’d plenty to say about departing NBC. In addition to the circumstances behind the show’s move from NBC to ABC, Lawrence also talked about NBC’s treatment of the show and why he thinks it stuck around for so long, despite that treatment.

But he also dropped a bit of a bomb: next season might not be the show’s final season. And if there is ninth season of Scrubs, it likely will continue without him or Zach Braff on board.

More after the jump.
