The CW logoBrad told you a couple of weeks ago about the new shows on The CW this fall. The network put aside Sunday nights in order to have Media Rights Capital program the night as it pleased, as an experiment. Now, the lineup that MRC has come up with has been released. The network has put all four shows into production immediately (no pilots) so they’ll be ready for fall. The shows will run from 7pm to 10pm. Note: sorry Moonlight fans, your show didn’t make it.

Bob SchiefferFor once the info coming from CBS News isn’t about whether Katie Couric’s job is in jeopardy. Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer has decided not to retire after all; he’s staying with CBS News indefinitely.

The veteran newsman, who’ll be 72 this year, had announced his retirement. He was going to leave the Black Rock as of the January presidential inauguration. Now he’s decided to postpone the rocking chair. According to TV Week, the network didn’t have to twist his arm; the deal was easily and simply done. All Schieffer had to do was get his wife Pat’s approval and he was able to tell CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus asked him not to step down as planned with the inauguration of a new president that he would remain.

Grim - The Grim Adventures of Billy and MandyIt is an interesting time for TV that we live in. This isn’t your grandfather’s TV, where they had three channels … and they liked it! And when changing the channel involved telling you to take your Toughskins covered butt over there and turn the large dial. Grandpa’s version of TV is being challenged on all fronts by cable, and it’s really not fairing well.

Yet another article, this time from the L.A. Times, takes a look at the damage that has been done. Some highlights: For the just concluded sweeps period, NBC was down 27% in adults 18-49. 27%! ABC lost over 20% of young adults. The other networks also posted double digit losses. The scary bit though, for the traditional networks, is that the number of people watching television is up 2%, and for the season the ad supported cable networks are up 7%.

Tommy Lee - Tommy Lee Goes To CollegeAfter the runaway success of Tommy Lee Goes To College and Rockstar: Supernova, it just makes all kinds of sense, right? Errrr, maybe third time’s the charm? Whichever way you are viewing your glass today, Fox has a new animated series in development called The Life And Times Of Jimmy Jaxx. The show, being helmed by the team behind Blades Of Glory, is loosely based on the many and varied exploits of Lee’s life.

As much as I like to blame Lee and his “band” for the destruction of the otherwise solid Rockstar concept, this idea sounds like it has some potential. The jump from Tommy Lee’s life to outlandish cartoon isn’t a difficult one to make. There should be no shortage of story ideas for the foreseeable future. Personally, I’m holding out hope for the Mick Mars guest spot in the Halloween episode. There’s no reason this couldn’t get slotted into Fox’s Sunday animation block.
