There have been a lot of personnel changes made to the cast and creative staff of Dirty Sexy Money lately. Only four months after replacing original showrunner Josh Reims, Daniel Cerone has left his executive producer/showrunner position. Big Shots creator Jon Feldman is Cerone’s replacement.

Apparently ABC didn’t share Cerone’s vision for a darker season two of Dirty Sexy Money. Fortunately, Cerone is leaving on good terms with the network. He still has a two-year deal with the ABC Studios. There will be an unexpected early break in production so that showrunner duties can be handed off to Jon Feldman.

OK, so auto racing makes it to number one for the second week in a row, but I’m just amazed at the power of SpongeBob SquarePants. Look, it’s a great, fun show, but every week it has at least one episode in the top 10, and usually has two or three episodes on the list. Is it that strong with kids or is the talk that adult stoners and gays being really into it true?

Have you noticed that Jimmy Kimmel Live has slowly but surely become a big force at ABC? It doesn’t do Jay Leno numbers, but the ratings have increased in the past few months, the network has given him prime real estate on prime time during the NBA Finals, and there just seems to be a buzz about the show. ABC must have noticed too because they’ve extended Kimmel’s contract through the 2010 season.

This is good news for Kimmel fans, as there has been much speak about what would happen to Kimmel if ABC were to grab Leno after Leno exits his show on NBC and Conan O’Brien takes over. Would Kimmel be pushed to 12:35 if Leno comes aboard, or even later if ABC also decided to keep Nightline? Of course, there’s no word on whether or not this new contract guarantees Kimmel the 12:05am slot. Leno leaves his show in 2009.

I hope Kimmel stays around for a long time. I can’t get into his musical guests, but he has the best monlogue on late night, in my view.

Apparently the new Trek movie, Fringe, and whatever it is he does over at Lost these days, isn’t enough to fill up J.J. Abrams’ day. That’s a good thing. He’ll be too busy to notice that you are downloading the leaked Fringe pilot. Through Bad Robot, Abrams is set to produce a new project, turning an article from the New York Times into a feature film. J.J.’s overlords at Paramount have purchased the rights to a recent article titled “Mystery On Fifth Avenue.”

That article, written by Penelope Green, tells the story of a luxury apartment on Fifth Avenue that has some unique architecture. After dropping $8.5 million on the place, the new owners brought in an architectural designer to liven the place up for the children. The remodel included hidden compartments, puzzles, poems, and messages. There’s even a book and a soundtrack that goes with it. How that translates into a movie remains to be seen, but Abrams has some help from a couple television veterans as he tries to figure that out. Maya Forbes (The Larry Sanders Show) and Wally Wolodarsky (The Simpsons) are on board to write the feature. I’m thinking Panic Room meets Jumanji, with time traveling aliens.
