Then with Commander in Chief on ABC, he made Geena Davis the President and actually showed her in action — until the show was canceled. Lurie’s working on another female-driven drama now for Showtime, but this time it’s not about politics. Hillary Jones is the name of the show and the character, a police detective working vice in Los Angeles during the week, but moonlighting as a hooker in Nevada during the weekend. The oldest-skewing shows are NBC’s Monk and ABC’s Women’s Murder Club. Interestingly, the ages on ABC, Fox, and NBC have been rising while CBS, which promotes to an older demographic to begin with, remains steady. The study was released by Magna Global’s Steve Sternberg. “The median ages of the broadcast networks keep rising, as traditional television is no longer necessarily the first screen for the younger set,” Sternberg wrote. Granada America still thinks the show can be a success stateside. More specifically, they think it can be a success on cable. As senior VP Julie Meldal-Johnson puts it, “We thought the timing was right and that American cable, edgier and more open, would be a superior venue for it than broadcast.” And that’s the bit that, kind of, sells me on the idea. Cable does offer certain freedoms and TNT does have a pretty good thing going with The Closer and Saving Grace. We’ll just think about that Heartland mess a learning experience, for now. Despite failing once, Cracker remains a great story, and I’m willing to give yet another incarnation a go.

On Inseparable, Yoba and Kole will play detectives: Yoba, an officer who works with the main character but is unaware of his condition; Kole, a young officer ready to move on up. Erik Jensen, Jose Pablo Cantillo, and Clea DuVall were added to Fox’s two-hour pilot Virtuality. The show is set on the Phaeton, a starship exploring other solar systems. Jensen of The Bronx is Burning will play the ship’s navigator. Cantillo of Standoff will play a mathematician. And DuVall, who was in Heroes and starred in Carnivale, will play Jensen’s co-pilot. What do you think of these new pilots?
